Workout Girl started out as a poem then became a studio practice that evolved into performance, collaborations, video and installation.
In solo studio practice and performances I inhabit my pre-adolescent body attempting to understand sexual trauma and the cultural pressures that affected my self-image.
Elton John, Madonna, Whitney Houston, George Michael, etc. along with glitter, nylons, baby powder, Vaseline and tempera paint evoke memories of girlhood in the 1980's and heighten the desire for ecstasy that is met by a loss of innocence.
